"Compatible ink" means ink cartridge will work in that printer. I teach digital photography and recommend printer manufacturer's inks to assure quality results. Quality varies considerably. Have been using Canon 8 ink in my Canon Pixma iP520 photo printer for over 3 years. I sell prints from this printer.
With regard to the inks, I believe the quality, tones, and accuracy is excellent. Additionally, the "6600" has an easy to use duplexing capability that is easy to access when printing text pages, saving substantially on wasted paper. Overall, the Canon Pixma printers (IP6600D in our case) exceed our expectations for photo quality. It is at lease as good as processed photos at retailers (i.e.: Costco), about the same cost, but clearly more convenient.
Good product, but ink price is causing me to cut back on prints.Went out and bought a used Laser Printer, for text prints.
But one con: Staples has got this this brand ink for as cheap as $13.49 a tank. Great product and great quality.
I searched cyan blue on the Amazon site and order a tank. But I do wish the product listing on Amazon contained some sort of warning about the difference. As most of us know, they simply do not work as well.So when I purchased the Canon printer I am currently using, I promised never to use an ink other than Canon.
After several attempts, I suddenly realized that the tank I was attempting to replace was a CLI-8C and I had unkowingly purchased a CLI-8PC - Photo Cyan. I then searched for cyan blue on Amazon and finally found it way down in the listing and purchased a tank. I contacted Canon and was told the printer would not accept the Photo Cyan.Certainly not the end of the world.
I've owned several printers in the past and tried all of the so-called Canon substitutes. Nothing. However, I would suggest that the search and/or listing be modified in some way to distinguish between the two inks.
Although they cost much more than the substitutes, the prices on Amazon seem to be the most favorable.But I did run into a snag. When I went to replace several colors, all went well until I tried to set the Cyan blue in place.
